Club History

The first senior football club in Kwinana was established in 1966 and based at Medina Oval. The Medina Football Club wore a black and white striped guernsey. The Club started in the Murray Districts Football Association and the first coach of the club was Mr Dick Walker.

In 1972 the club name was changed to the Kwinana Districts Football Club to incorporate the Kwinana Beach community and the new suburb of Calista. The Knights were formed and the club colours changed to the current red, blue and white.

To participate in the South Suburban Murray Football League, clubrooms were needed. The change rooms we had but there were no clubrooms and these needed to be built. Building commenced in 1976 and had to be done with a Council loan plus 10 guarantors. These guarantors being - Max and Robyn Burton, Ed Dewar, Hartland Sprigg, Gunter and Sheila Fischer, John and Carol Lohmann, Terry and Betty St.Jack, Garth and Peta Kennan, Bill and Rose Kirk, John and Pauline Pryer and Geoff and Sue Groenenberg. There were a number of other people also involved who were not guarantors and they were - Adi and Lancia Kattler, Daryl and Carol Franklin, Terry Dean, Murray and Terry Lloyd, Brett Butler plus many more people who provided their time and labor to help build the clubroom.

It took months to finish and the building was in use by 1977. Mr Frank Baker, Mayor of the Kwinana Town Council at the time, officially opened the club in June 1978.

A Deed of agreement was signed 27th May 1977 between the Shire of Kwinana and K.D.F.C. The Shire of Kwinana granted a lease to the club for 99 years.
